A K-beauty store that shops
like a skin consultation.

We rebuilt Seoul Essence’s Shopify store around how Indian shoppers actually choose Korean skincare: by routine step and by skin concern, with expert guidance one tap away.

/ The brief

Seoul Essence curates authentic Korean skincare for Indian skin and climate. The store had to prove that curation at every click, and guide first-time K-beauty buyers to a full routine.

/ The brand and the stakes

Founded by Rasika after discovering K-beauty abroad, Seoul Essence exists because authentic Korean skincare was hard to trust and harder to navigate in India.

In a category full of counterfeits and marketplace noise, a generic catalogue theme would have made Seoul Essence look like every other reseller. The store itself had to carry the brand promise: fewer products, each chosen for Indian skin.

/ The problem

Every K-beauty buyer asks two questions before checkout. A standard Shopify store, organised by brand, answers neither, so shoppers leave to research elsewhere and buy on a marketplace.

“Which step am I missing?”

The 10-step routine is the category’s biggest barrier for beginners.

/ Old site

“Will this work for my skin, in this weather?”

Fit and authenticity doubts end most first visits.

/ New site

/ Insight and strategy

Shoppers don’t browse K-beauty by brand. They shop by routine step and by skin concern, and they need reassurance before every purchase.

01

Make the routine the navigation
Ten steps, each with a one-line purpose, so a beginner sees their routine and fills the gaps.

02

Start from the skin problem
Four concern paths, Acne, Pigmentation, Anti-Ageing and Dry Skin, lead straight to suitable products.

03

Put the expert on the product page
Ingredients, a Best For field, a brand tip, plus a quiz or free consultation, right where doubt appears.

/ What we built

Five systems, each tied to a buying decision.

/ System 1

Routine navigation

A mega menu that walks through all ten K-beauty steps, from cleanser to sunscreen. Every product carries its step badge, so shoppers always know what comes next.

/ System 2

Concern-led shopping

Most shoppers arrive with a problem, not a product name. Four concern collections, each showing how many products fit, turn a skin worry into a short, trusted list.

/ System 3

A product page that answers every doubt

One structure across the whole catalogue, so customers learn where to look once and trust it everywhere.

/ System 4

The guidance layer

A skin quiz and free consultation booking appear in the hero and on every product page. Online guidance connects to the brand’s in-person pop-ups, so the store works like a counter conversation.

/ System 5

Routine bundles and order value

Frequently Bought Together completes a regimen, serum plus moisturiser plus SPF, instead of pushing random add-ons. Clear thresholds give every basket a reason to grow.

/ Built for the phone first

Most K-beauty discovery happens on a phone, so every system was designed at thumb size first.
